Every 3.5mm audio jack in a smartphone, tablet, and laptop contains three signals. It sends two right and left stereo signals and receives one audio signal via a microphone channel.
The Firefly DJ cable dedicates each channel for its own use. One of the stereo signals connects directly to a speaker or any sound system with no need for extra adapters or cables. There is an independent input jack for headphones using the other stereo signal. Another jack on the headphone harness allows unique access to the microphone permitting multiple mic scenarios. One option is to plug a microphone into the separate input jack. Another is to use the microphone on your smartphone earbuds. A third option is to share the microphone channel using both jacks with multiple microphones.
What about using Bluetooth instead? Bluetooth is OK, but sometimes you need a direct, secure connection that has no latency.
The Firefly DJ cable is an excellent solution if you’re a music enthusiast that wants the confidence of having access to play from your mobile device to any analog sound system or speaker.
JUST KNOW THAT THIS CABLE CAN DO SO MUCH MORE!
DJ: THIS CABLE IS DESIGNED FOR YOU.
Connect your tablet or smartphone with a DJ app to any speaker or analog sound system quickly and conveniently. If you use an extensive system with many cables, this cable will save your life if your system goes down. The intention in designing this Swiss-army style cable is specifically for the mobile DJ to use on any occasion free from connecting to a mixer. It works with every DJ app that splits out the left and right channels to use with headphones for pre-cueing music. The headphone jack is TRRS giving access to your earbud microphone. The same headphone harness has a separate dedicated jack for a TRS microphone. End to end, the Firefly DJ Cable is 426cm – more than 14 feet long. It is an unbalanced signal because it’s not a long enough cable to require it and because of the multiple features it offers.
The overall intention in designing this cable is to give DJ talent access to exposure without buying a lot of equipment. All you need is your mobile device with the right DJ app, your headphones or earbuds, an external microphone, the Firefly DJ cable, and a powered speaker.
One mobile device, one audio cable, no adapters, and no mixer. Convenient, affordable, and ready to use.
MUSICIAN STUDENT / ENTERTAINER
Connect your tablet or smartphone audio directly to the speaker for a wired and secure connection. Sometimes you need clean background music to accompany your performance with no wireless audio signal loss or latency. Use the microphone jack to control your volume and voice settings from your mobile app without a mixer or multiple cables and adapters going to the speaker. Or you can use the microphone jack for a musical instrument line input.
PERFORMER / KARAOKE SINGER / STREET TALENT
The Firefly DJ cable gives you access to live, in-person Karaoke parties using your favorite Karaoke app. Connect directly to a speaker with no wireless audio signal loss or latency. Use the microphone jack and your Karaoke app settings to control your volume and voice effects settings without a mixer or multiple cables and adapters going to the speaker.
PRESENTER / TEACHER / MUSIC EDUCATOR
Connect your tablet or laptop, or smartphone audio directly to a speaker for a wired and secure connection with no wireless audio signal loss or latency. Use the microphone jack and control your volume and voice settings in your mobile app without a mixer.
The Firefly DJ Cable is more than 14 feet long and doesn’t require extra adapters to plug into the speaker or sound system.
MOBILE BLOGGER
Connect your smartphone, tablet, or laptop to multiple microphones (TRRS & TRS) sharing the same microphone channel for interviews. You also have the option to connect the podcast to an external analog system for other effects and recording or live public events. I use the TRS channel for a single lapel microphone and the TRRS channel for a double lapel mic setup for a 3-person chat. Be aware that this is still only one microphone channel. Adjust microphone distances accordingly or understand that there might be some extra post-production editing to do.
